The Podcamp/Wordcamp organizer(s) are a little short on aloha (or disorganized). I sent in a request to be a sponsor, i.e. offering money, but no one ever responded. The event is otherwise a terrific idea and I hope they get a good attendance, especially for your part of the program!

Firefox removes pop-ups automatically, and if not, other ad-blocking software does. AdBlock Plus is the second most popular add-in for Firefox last I looked. Opera also removes popups, and has done so for years.

Increasingly advertisers will have to think of something else, and who knows, eventually advertising may not work well as a business model on the web.
