I got a call at about 7:30 a.m. from Reb Bellinger, who discovered this giant squid washed up on the beach just after dawn. We had walked past the same spot about 45 minutes earlier. No squid at that time.

So I grabbed a camera and drove back down to the beach. After getting some photos, Reb took the beast and headed off in search of some UH folks who might be interested.

A very alert Charley Foster flagged my “squid blogging” and posted a link to the photos even before I got this blog post ready.
