Dawn through the vog

There was a thick layer of vog hanging over our part of the island this morning. When I looked out to check the weather before starting our morning walk, I couldn’t see the horizon through the heavy volcanic haze. It made for a different sort of sunrise. Quite a good show. [Canon G10]

Monday…Handling of rail issues present another two newspaper moment

This weekend offered another two-newspaper moment. The Star-Bulletin offered up an incredibly irritating editorial on rail transit, which regurgitated an earlier column by city transportation director Wayne Yoshioka without the slightest bit of reportorial skepticism about the alleged “facts” being thrown around.
