Have a mentioned that we just got back from a quick trip to Portland? That’s Portland, Oregon. Great city. Lots of historic ties to Hawaii. Many students from Hawaii go to college in and around Portland, and there are lots of former Hawaii residents living there. Meda went to high school in Portland, and we both spent time there during breaks while attending college in Walla Walla, Washington. So we enjoy vacationing there.
And this was a vacation. Only a very small bit of work done while there.
It even involved a vacation from our normal diet, which doesn’t include commercial pizza. I make a good low-fat pizza at home. But on this trip, there was a good pizza place on the Portland State University urban campus, just a couple of short blocks from our hotel, also owned and operated by PSU. Oh–take a note–wouldn’t a small hotel or guest house near or on the Manoa campus, staffed and operated by the UH School of Travel Industry Management, make a lot of sense?
Well, back to the pizza. Our luck. We broke our normal diet, ordered a big caesar salad and a pizza. When the pizza arrived, they made a mistake. It turned out to be an extra large pizza rather than the more modest one we actually ordered. But it was their mistake, so we took it home at no extra charge.
It wasn’t clear just how big this pizza was until we started to serve up a piece.
That’s a small dinner plate in the foreground. Likely at 10″ plate. It looks like a small salad plate with that slice of pizza on it!
Anyway, this pizza became a meal for us on two consecutive nights. Yes, that’s how cheap we are.
But we’re back.

Until Ms. Annie showed up, I was wondering if Feline Friday was being replaced by Large Pizza Friday. Not entirely sure which I’d like better!
