Ms. Annie introduces this week’s Feline Friday.
Annie was a kitten of about 8-10 weeks when we found her on the beach one morning. She was trying to scramble up the beach to the road, apparently having emerged from a drainage culvert that runs under Kamehameha Highway from the residential area on the other side. She’s the last of the kittens that we rescued and kept. Since then, we’ve managed to find homes for a number of kittens without giving in to the temptation to add to our number.
Annie’s grown up to be a very good cat. She’s the smallest of our cats but has become the best hunter in the group. She’s also very feisty and will defend her turf in the house when challenged.
She’s a good intro to today’s group. Just click on her photo for more.

Why do cats like to roll excitedly in patches of bare soil? My Mom’s cat likes to do that, and Annie does too. Does the texture of bare soil feel good to them?
