Lind, Yonge and Related Lines
The Yonges of Puslinch: An American Branch

Many years ago Ian Lind was given a school assignment of writing a biographical essay. He began by declaring that his family tree included his ancestors the British, his ancestors the Americans who were fighting the British, and his ancestors the Hawaiians who were eating the British. Ian's youthful essay hardly qualified as a genealogical treatise, but it does contain some truth. The Yonges are English, while the Linds and Montgomeries are Scots. The Thomases, Brittains and their related lines constitute the American contingent, and some of them did indeed fight the British. The Cathcarts represent the Hawaiian lines. It is unlikely any of them actually ate the British! Much of the work presented in these pages was collected by our mother, Helen Yonge Lind, beginning in the early 1950's. Bonnie Lind Stevens now works with her, refining and expanding our understanding of our heritage. Families will be added here as the applicable work is completed. If you are a descendant of any of these lines and would like to correct information presented herein or share additional information, please contact us by email. We consider this a work in progress and look forward to your input.
