It was billed as the US-Indochina Solidarity March backed by People's Coalition for Peace and Justice, a local umbrella peace group, and coincided with demonstrations that drew 500,000 people to Washington, D.C. Two days earlier, Vietnam veterans, including John Kerry, testified before a Senate committee, part of a week of national protests by the veterans group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW).
