Hemmed in on Kealaolu Avenue

For years, my parents have watched the transformation of Kealaolu Avenue in Kahala as longtime residents sold out and speculators moved in to demolish existing homes. Walls have replaced hedges, homes replaced by starter mansions, families replaced by absentee speculators and foreign investors. Now the homes on both sides of them have been bulldozed, every bit of green scraped off, high black dust curtains erected, and large new multistory houses are going up. It's sad to see a neighborhood displaced.
