August 1967. Public protest was increasingly challenging the war policies of the Johnson-Humphrey administration. Hawaii was no exception. The annual convention of the American Bar Association attracted thousands of participants and a visit by Vice-President Hubert Humphrey. Protest was inevitable. Here marchers approach the Ilikai Hotel, site of the convention, along Ala Moana Boulevard.
