   Condolences to his family, his staff, and to his new employee, you. The guy certainly had his detractors, but he also had heart.

   Ian,
   I learned of Mr. Bainum’s passing on HPR this morning on the way to work and immediately thought of you. What an incredible shock. This year seems to be full of them!
   I believe all of Hawaii’s hearts are joined in mourning. My thoughts are with you.

   My condolences, Ian. Notwithstanding the misgivings I expressed in a post yesterday, I was hopeful that the Duke Bainum I used to know would do good work over the balance of his term. I am sad that he will not have the opportunity to do so and for the loss suffered by his family, friends, and colleagues.
