By mid-afternoon, the first fireworks started going off. Not many, but enough to send Kili and Wally slinking off into hidden places, and put the other cats on full alert. Annie and Toby were the last to retreat to the house, and we quickly shut the cat door behind them.

With all eight scared cats safely in the house, Meda and I left them and headed around the corner to celebrate the 4th with Ms. Pe’a, her puppies, and the rest of their household. It was dogs, wine, and great food for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening.

The puppies are not quite 6 months old. Reilly weighs in at about 80 pounds, Sadie at 60. That’s a lot of puppy.
