Just FYI. I thought I would share a couple of photos of last night’s birthday dinner, a Hawaiian meal that my mother has prepared every year as long as I can remember.
Laulau, poi, lomi salmon, raw fish. A glass of non-Hawaiian wine. Meda worries about the weighty grams of fat. I chow down.
This is my mother, now age 95, after the table was set.
And then came the birthday cake. My sister, Bonnie, and my mother posed for a photo before I blew out the candles.
As the card my mother gave me said, “You know you’re getting old when…the twinkle in your eye is the sun reflecting off your bifocals.”

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, IAN! Geez, I haven’t blown out birthday candles in decades. In fact, I have not had a birthday cake in decades.
David and I always dine out on our birthdays.
Ian,
I would be more than happy to participate in a write-in campaign or some such other activity directed to companies who either won’t ship here or who insist on the most expensive shipping option available. It just ain’t right.
Aloha,
Lora
p.s. and another “Happy Birthday”!
