Media Council Hawaii, formerly known as the Honolulu Community-Media Council, has announced a December 2 forum featuring the attorney representing the council in a legal challenge to the KFVE-KHNL-KGMB merger.
The council believes the merger violates policies of the Federal Communications Commission, which are designed to further localism, diversity, and competition, and has filed a complaint with the FCC to block the deal, according to a flyer announcing the event.
Professor Angela Campbell is a member of the faculty staff of the Institute for Public Representation, Georgetown Law (IPR). She joined IPR in February 1988, and is head of IPR’s First Amendment and Media Law Project. Campbell formerly served as an attorney at the Communications and Finance Section of the Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice. While at the Justice Department, she was involved in enforcing the consent decree in U.S. v. AT&T, filing comments with the FCC and investigating mergers.
The forum is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on December 2 at 949 Kapiolani Blvd. The $20 price includes lunch. Additional information about the forum and how to reserve a spot is included in a flyer about the event.
