The major pre-primary fundraising reports are out. The major candidates delayed their reports until late on Monday, and I waited until this morning to take my first look.
Here are Mufi Hannemann’s top campaign contributors during the period January through June, 2010.

I compared Hannemann’s receipts to those of Neil Abercrombie. While Hannemann leads in fundraising, Neil’s campaign increased its pace modestly during this latest period, bringing in 86% of Hannemann’s total.

If Abecrombie can continue that pace through the final stretch, it appears that he will have sufficient funds for a final campaign push, even though he’ll be unable to match Mufi dollar for dollar.
Neil has several events coming up, including an August 24 fundraising concert at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, featuring Willie Nelson and Willie K.

You didn’t run the dates of Hannemann’s upcoming fundraisers. Why not?
Abercrombie has spent over twice as much money as Hannemann and has little to show for it. He now has a little over $450k in the bank, and still owes $140 in unpaid debt. Hannemann has over $2 mil in the bank and no debt. Put a happy spin on that.
It’s probably because Mufi’s upcoming fundaraisers aren’t featuring WILLIE NELSON and WILLIE K.
Perhaps I’m wrong, but I felt Ian was “name dropping” merely to infer Neil’s campign is spending a considerable amount of money.
Time to label campaign shills, Ian.

I guess Neil leading Mufi in the polls by 11% even in Mufi’s polls is considered by non-shrill-shills “something to show for it”, you think?
The poll is old…and paid for by Abercrombie. Other than that it is 100% reliable. [slight edit]
In Neils own polls, he was up 15 points last year. then it was at 7 in the poll currently being referred to (the one from June). Neils polls since then show him even or slightly behind, but he is scared to death to release them as that trend would torpedo his chances to close the HUGE fundraising gap.
By the way Ian, money raised is a useless stat. Cash on hand is what count. Neil has to raise 1.5 million more the Mufi the rest of the way to close that gap. Ain’t gonna happen!
Are you releasing your polls?
I never ever vote for the candidate with the most donations. This only means that he’s sold his soul to special interests even before he/she takes office. Not good!
Any candidate who keeps plastering all over Oahu with obscene toweing banners will not get a single penny from me. All the tomb of Mufi’s banners are getting on our nerves. No class.
Gee I wonder why Mufi’s contributors are all developers or in construction?!?

I knew that Neil was ahead in the most recent poll by 7% , but didn’t know he was as close in donations to Mufi as he is.
That recent poll in over 3 months old (way before Mufi announced he was running) and it was paid for by Neil. Suspect on many levels and utterly useless as far as the election goes. Recent polls have them tied.
Well either you’re obviously misinformed or you are purposely spreading misinformation about the polls. The recent SMS poll shows Neil ahead by 8 percentage points and you know it. Not sure why you feel the need to BS. I guess it shows the desperation of Mufi supporters. If Mufi had even one poll where he was ahead he would release it in a hurry. Speaks volumes that he hasn’t, doesn’t it?
So, Abercrombie paid SMS for this poll, which they did a couple of months ago. It is utterly worthless for several reasons. What is your point?
Keith seems to have trouble interacting without going out of his way to insult others (much like the candidate he’s working for?). This is really a form of cyber bullying he engages in. I suggest we move on.
What position is Mufi going to give you for all your damage control hard work on behalf of the worst mayor this city ever had? Oh, I forgot. You have already been paid plenty for PR contracts?
And for the record, Hannemann’s fundraiser is on August 16th at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
will be interesting to see how much money mufi has to spend on staff now that he doesnt have paid city employees to run his campaign anymore i.e. keith rollman, brian mick, bill brennen, etc…
Mufi is telling everyone he’s still in charge of the city, and he certainly still has the same staff there. I guess Kirk could call for an audit of the city and prove everyone wrong and that he’s his own man. Any bets on that happening?
