August celebration: Our anniversary and my birthday!

ToastIt was a big week. And if you’re wondering how we celebrated the Anniversary-Birthday holiday, you’re in the right place.

We’ve started calling it the “Annibirthary”, two days of fun with a bonus day in between. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Yes, there was a bottle of Champagne on our anniversary. And early morning walks on the beach. And stops at some of our favorite places. And, yes, fabulous home-cooked meals. With the cats.

In any case, you can follow along. Just click on the picture to get started on the Annibirthary photo gallery.

Lovely, Ian! Congratulations! I notice you are very fond of bell peppers — green, red, and yellow. And, of course, there’s that obligatory bottle of wine! haha.

You’re such a fun couple. May I suggest a new restaurant? Next time you’re at the Hawaii Kai Costco, dine at Maile Thai Bistro. It’s in the same shopping area and everything on the menu is fabulous. One more plus…they stay open all afternoon so you can eat at 4 pm if you want.

“Annibirthary” – too funny! We celebrate both of those in this month, too! Congratulations on both.

Haven’t been to Maile Thai, but friends are repeat diners there and love it.

Just to let you know, we switched our cats to Blue Buffalo brand.

We buy the “wilderness” variety, the cats love it and seem to be thriving on it. The site doesn’t mention low carb but the bag says low carb. We have not tried the canned food because our cats won’t eat canned food.

Anyway, in case you are interested we get it at the Petco in Pearl City. I feel better about giving them food that does not have tons of fillers in it.

Thanx for sharing your zest for the good life.

You should give yourself crdit in that brakfast photo — “Turkey bacon, omelet, toast.” — it looks like that’s an egg-white omelet (no yolks).

But I have to chide: did/you really take your stuff home from Safeway in plastic bags as the photo suggests or do you bring your own reusables?

Yes, egg white omelet…with one or two egg yolks.
On the plastic bags…it’s the luck of the draw. We have our reusable bags in the car, but we also try to get some plastic bags that we use for picking up trash on the beach every morning. So we need 7-14 plastic bags a week. We try to stagger our use of reusables to take that into account. Crazy, yeah?

Wow, you guys pick up 7-14 bags of trash a week? Sadly, I guess I am not surprised, but happily, I am glad that you do so and put those plastic bags to good use.
