Message from a friend: “There’s no crying in baseball”

We received a very sobering email yesterday from an old friend–that is, a friend we’ve known for a very long time–whose husband (a not-so-old but also very good friend) was just diagnosed with a virulent form of pancreatic cancer.

Her attitude, expressed in an extraordinary email, is reflected in this comment.

Thank you all for your warm wishes and prayers. But really, the only thing we ask is that your raise a glass (with the VERY best booze) and make a toast to good times, of which we have had so many. Should we see you again, we expect everyone to be upbeat so we can enjoy every moment.

Our motto through this ordeal is, “There’s no crying in baseball” and I’ve attached a video clip to make you smile.

It is a very difficult and wonderful world.
