A little update from Vint Blackburn

Folks from the old Star-Bulletin will remember Vint, formerly a graphic designer.

I last heard of him back in 2007, when he was reportedly entering medical school.

Well, this little update arrived yesterday.

Hey Ian.

Was just reading your blog and I thought I’d give you an update. I’m actually finishing my third year of medical school as we speak, er… write. One more month to go in Pediatrics and then a year of electives and I’ll be an MD. Scary, isn’t it. Forget for a moment that I’m facing another 4-5 years of residency, but who’s counting. The current plan is adolescent psychiatry, but I’ll happily work on adult friends too (are you listening Bender and Labayog?). Also, my wife Mathilda and I now have a bouncing baby girl. She just turned two and talks more, and better, than I do. She falls down a lot though. Any way, thought I’d just say “hi.”

How’s Hawaii?

Now he has another legitimate use for an X-Acto knife!

Congratulations to Vint. He’s had quite a few interesting career changes.

Really? Vint. Remember I use to live right next door to you and I am wondering if the psychiatry is for you! I am thinking I should be the one in the chair with the note pad. 🙂 Good to hear you are doing so well. Where are you living? Send photos of your wife and kid. Are you on facebook?

Hi Ian! How is it having only one paper?

I am in real estate these days. Austin Tx is doing pretty well with the economy.

Wow. Great to hear from you! The Big TX! Toby (one of our cats, if you don’t immediately connect) has fans in Austin! And we’ve got Kaaawa friends who live in Austin. Small world!
