Disappointment for Feline Friday addicts

Oh, no!

The repair of my MacBook Pro is still “in progress,” according to Apple’s support website.

The first operational victim is today’s scheduled Feline Friday.

That’s right. Due to a combination of factors, I’m unable to share the latest on the Lind cats. Woe is us!

You can, of course, satisfy yourself with an older set of pictures. If you’ve never done it, it’s easy. Just start at the cat index, and you can scroll down all the way back to our adoption of Kili and Wally 1998. They’ll seem like new pictures. Really.

And if you still have time, check this set of kitten pictures from a friend of my brother-in-law in San Francisco.

But I did try to prepare a new set for today.

I used a backup of my hard drive to start Adobe Lightroom. But when I opened it, it asked for the license #. Luckily, I have those numbers stored in another file, and was able to enter it and get going. So far, so good. Then I got out the external drive that I use for my photos. It’s actually a small RAID drive that automatically makes a second copy of itself as you use it. Okay. Oops, suddenly not okay. Then I remembered. One of the issues with the older MacBook I’m using (I replaced it last year with a newer model after its 3-year warranty expired) is that its USB ports were acting funny. Disks plugged into them will sort of come and go. Today, mostly go.

So I have been unable to reach the photo library or to load new photos into it.

I’ve even got a little video of Annie’s discovery of the catnip plant a friend gave us. The plant is now safely incarcerated downstairs where cats can’t get to it. The video is stuck on a memory card that lacks a reader, because I use the reader in the computer now being repaired by Apple. So you’ll have to wait for the video.

So it goes.

But here’s the latest news. Ms. Kili was spotted coming in through a cat door a couple of days ago. As far as we can tell, it was an isolated event. So she and Ms Wally have each used the doors just once. Meanwhile, Romeo, Silverman, and Annie are going in and out. Harry, Duke, and Toby have yet to get it at all. I guess we don’t have to worry about college tuition.

Other than this, the cats are fine. One dead rodent graced my shower earlier this week, but otherwise it has been an unremarkable week in the cats world.
