I was quite surprised yesterday when a tweet from Ryan Ozawa called my attention to a mention in Honolulu Weekly’s annual “Best of Honolulu” issue.
It’s found among the Readers’ Picks in the People section.
I wasn’t expecting this, and so didn’t see it until the day after the issue hit the street. Thanks to those readers who apparently took the initiative! You’re the best.

You deserve it Ian! Congratulations!
Yeah Ian! Finally someone I voted for wins!!!
reflection of a job well done.
Well deserved. Congratulations, Ian.
Congrats my friend!
Congratulations, Ian.
Imagine how different your life would be if you had “lost the beard” and taken that construction job in Menlo Park?
…a discerning readership, no?
While I LOVE your blog–and almost everything you do or have done– I’m not sure it is much of an honor to be voted marginally more “intellectually sophisticated” than Catherine Toth’s blog.
Because she is cute–OK, I admit it– I have occasionally read her blog hoping to find something of value there. But nada. It is vacuous fluff.
And she is teaching JOURNALISM to the next generation of reporters! Jeez! This may be the single greatest threat to the future of journalism in Hawaii. Bigger than corporate monopolistic practices. Bigger than the challenge to craft a business model appropriate to the new digital technology.
I jest, but only by a little.
