We’re just in the process of recovering the cushions on our vintage chairs. We’ve got four rattan chairs, five-strand, and two other old fashioned wood chairs. Six chairs, twelve cushions.
We chose an indoor-outdoor fabric by Sunbrella, which we’re hoping will resist both cats and fading, at least for a while.
A friend put us in touch with a Kaaawa resident who does this kind of work. He gave us a very good price for his work, and we bought the fabric ourselves. He has finished most of the work in just a couple of days. He expects to deliver the last cushions tomorrow.
His work is quite good, the seams and clean and tight. We asked for zippers, to make future cleaning easier, and they look great.
I’m not sure whether he does other heavier upholstery work, but if you’re in the market, we can certainly ask.

Hi Ian. My niece lives on Ohelokai in Ka‘a‘awa. They have 2 old wooden chairs like yours plus a carved pedestal table and 6 dining chairs, no arms, and have been looking for someone to refinish them as well as redo the cushions. Can you give me the name and contact info for the person who made your cushion covers? Thanks, Paulette
Seems like the kitties are already checking out the new cushions!
