I think this was taken at Hanauma Bay. My dad, my sister, Bonnie, and me. It must be about 1952, when it was nothing like the overcrowded visitor attraction it is now.

My dad told us childhood (about 1920’s) stories of he and friends walking from Palolo to Hanauma Bay stopping off at where Lunalilo Home Road is to get water from the cattle troughs. They would camp out at the Bay for many days catching fish and swimming and “hiking”.
In the early 1950’s our Boy Scout Troop 141 would be driven to the Bay and we would camp out for a week . By then there was piped in potable water available for us to consume along with the fish we caught. Great Times, Great Memories.
I enjoyed both your reflections. mahalo.
I first enjoyed Hanauma Bay in the late 80’s when you walked down and yes overcrowded like today and you could walk to the toilet bowl along the coast.
