That sounds nice but the more pertinent challenge in Hawaii is finding credible candidates and educating voters.
We all bemoan low voter turnout because we think we’re supposed to, but I frankly do not want more uninformed people, who hadn’t made the minimal effort to register, to start voting in shallow popularity contests—often featuring wholly unqualified clowns and perennial hacks who simply enjoy name recognition and unquestioned ethnic affinity—corrupted by special interests, big money, and garbage advertising, with very little genuine media scrutiny.
Have a nice day.
What every city in every state throughout the country needs to improve voter awareness and turnout!
We used to have a voter registration form in every Yellow Pages phone book. But now no more phone books.
If everyone who bemoans the lack of good candidates took the added step of running for office themselves, we’d have quite a lively political fray, wouldn’t we!
Perhaps, but not everyone who’s qualified is necessarily cut out for politics or interested in devoting a good portion of their lives to dealing with all the inevitable bullshit.
In many totalitarian countries, the voter turnout is about 100%.
High voter turnout is overrated.
