It really was a small bombshell of a news scoop.

The title of my post on New Years Day summarized it: “Feds say explicit photos led to Big Island firefighter in Kealoha case.”

It was a story that appears to have caught the mainstream media unawares.

But it didn’t take long for them to pick up the story. Hawaii News Now posted a version of the story the following afternoon, January 2.

I appreciated that HNN included an acknowledgement, with a link back to this blog: “The transcript, first reported on investigative reporter Ian Lind’s blog, was of Aug. 15 meetings between the judge, the Kealohas’ attorneys and federal prosecutors.”

This morning, another day later, the Star-Advertiser featured the matter on the front page of their section for local and business news. No attribution here, unfortunately, although that’s somewhat standard for the S-A.

And later this morning, it was the lead in Hawaii Business Magazine’s daily email of news headlines, which cited the Star-Advertiser version of the story.

In any case, those of you who frequent this blog had the news first.

I also note that the SA is also running frequent full page ads for JUUL the nicotine laden vapor cigarettes. Shameful! I sent your blog to Kevin Dayton as soon as it came out wondering where the press was on such a big story. You got your answer apparently absent any attribution.
