Events are outrunning me

There’s so much happening. Tulsi Gabbard’s bizarre rant against Senator Mazie Hirono, followed quickly by her announcement of a presidential bid. News that the FBI was so concerned that a counterintelligence operations was launched to attempt to determine whether Donald Trump was working for Russia. The government shutdown that has been driven to historic proportions by the racist visions of the orange one. Trying to process the news makes my head hurt.

I’ll be trying to get back on top of at least some of the things going on. Soon. Really.

In the meantime….Take a deep, calming breath. Then enjoy a moment this morning at Waialae Beach Park.

Gabbard’s rant was not so much bizarre as it was a carefully calculated self-serving preemptive strike intended to showcase her newly-minted tolerance, distinguish herself from likely presidential candidate Kamala Harris — the true target of her rant; Hirono being incidental roadkill and not a likely Gabbard supporter anyway— and to discourage anyone from questioning her own quasi-Hindu cultivation, past overt bigotry, and more recent dealings with some very strident overseas Hindu types, her being the much-shallowly-celebrated “first Hindu in Congess” and all, as she prepared to announce her preposterously presumptuous candidacy for president as a means of attempting to leverage something more attainable.
Mileage may vary, especially among Tulsi-bots and some hopelessly starry-eyed naifs determined to sleep through wake-up calls. But national media scrutiny won’t be anything like the softball played here if she somehow manages to gain any real traction, and the smart money says Gabbard is irreparably damaged goods, the most ridiculously over-hyped Hawaii politico in a generation.

I am not voting for Tulsi because of her love for Assad of Syria. I am not going to vote for Trump, either, but I do favor a steel fence along the southern border. Controlled immigration is the right thing to do.

Tulsi didn’t show love for Assad. How did you come to that conclusion? She accompanied highly respected Dennis Kucinich on that trip. Israel & US& allies have been undermining Assad for a long time. Israel illegally holds the Golan Heights which belongs to Syria. Now they are bombing Syria illegally. However, it is foolish of Tulsi to attack Mazie.

Syria’s Asad maybe genteler than Mazie Hirono.
Like Patsy Mink, Iorn tough. She’ll show the boy’s how it is done right! Tulsi is a fading star.
And American Samoa is not part of America nor it’s Trust Teratories, niether parent deployed in military service at time of birth. Unlike Senator John McCain birth in Panama. She has a real birther problem!
Bottom line is Tulsi all fantasy not reality!

According to Abercrombie, it seems like Gabbard got dubious campaign advice from conservatives.

Gabbard may lose support in Hawaii, but not because she diverges ideologically from the Democratic Party, as so many Democrats in Hawaii (most?) diverge from it. In Hawaii, the problem for Gabbard is that she will be perceived as no longer being a team player, much like when Ed Case ran against Senator Daniel Akaka. The outspokenness that some people find “refreshing” shocks the majority. The problem for Gabbard is not that she is “The Manchurian Candidate” with a secret agenda and a shady history (which Hawaii does not care about), but that she is “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”. The nail that stands up get hammered down.
