Feline Friday: A spreading cat nap epidemic

As this week’s photos demonstrate, we’re in the midst of a cat nap epidemic. Feline narcolepsy? Everywhere I look, at almost every time of day, there are cats asleep. If they aren’t asleep, then at least one of them is fussing. Fussing at me for unknown reasons. Well, sometimes it’s for food. Sometimes for attention, or access to my lap. Sometimes they’re just fussy.

So it goes.

A fond aloha to Grumpy Cat. RIP.

Ian: I understand cats nap an average of 16 hours a day and they are mostly awake at night because they still have the predator instincts to go hunting at night. My daughter said that the reason they always seem to be looking or observing when awake is because they were domesticated much later than dogs and still watch their surroundings for prey or predators of cats. Interesting, huh, explains why Kiki keeps trying to wake up daughter in the early hours, sometimes biting to get her up.
