We had dinner with friends in Kaaawa and stayed the night. Overslept a bit, but did get to walk the neighborhood, although we failed to run into any dogs.
We lived out here for about 28 years before moving back into town at the end of the summmer in 2015. It’s a different world from Kahala, that’s for sure.
Here are just a few images from our walk. Click on any photo to view a larger version.
Kaaawa is squarely within Red Raider Country (Kahuku Red Raiders, that is).
Swanzy Beach Park.
This house caught my eye a few blocks along.
And then a friend’s house…
…with pig.

Ha! Everyone should have a pig in the yard!
That pig looks well trained????
Kaaawa is a sweet spot…. mahalo for the little tour Ian.
Thank goodness there are still quirky, eclectic neighborhoods such as this where dictatorial HOAs do not rule and conformity is a four letter word.
Hopefully that pig is a family pet. We had a summer home in Kaaawa for years. Gosh leeward can get hot.
Definitely a family pet! And, as you can see, a well fed one at that!
