They’re here, again!
Kali, Kinikini, and Bessie. Our three cats, each rescued at different times from a cat colony being tended at the top of Aiea Heights.
At one time, when we lived in Kaaawa, we had nine cats that went in and out through a pair of cat doors in our living room. It worked because there was a large, 4-acre parcel in front of our house where the cats could roam and hunt. Although it sounds ideal, it exposed our cats to all the dangers of being outdoors, fights, dogs, cars, and a host of other dangers.
When we moved to Kahala nine years ago, five of our country cats came with us, although they had to adapt to living indoors. We made a decision to keep them in the house after deciding the street in front of our house is too dangerous for cats to continue to let them roam the neighborhood. They adapted, and over the next several years succumbed to varied conditions associated with old age.
So, here we are, down to “just” three cats. Enjoy your visit.
