The final Feline Friday of March

It’s just about 8:30 p.m. in Hawaii, so technically this qualifies as Feline Friday!!

Yes, it’s late, and most of you won’t see this until Saturdau. My excuse is that our flight from San Francisco didn’t arrive in Honolulu until just before 8 p.m. on Thursday, and it took us a while to get a taxi and arrive at home.

The cats were fine. They were also very happy to see us!!

Kinikini was the only one of the cats that never introduced himself to our cat sitter. So he has been most hungry for human attention since we got back.

I got the camera out early Friday morning, and started trying for Feline Friday photos. Usually I have several days to get the right light, the right settings, and the right expressions. Today, no such luxuries. I had to chase cats during the day and do the best that I could.

Rather than post as Feline Friday on Saturday, this is arriving a Feline Friday (somewhat delayed).

Meda’s brother sent the cats a gift, a fancy electronic cat toy. It’s a ball, about the size of a small tennis ball, with a long tail. Press the small red button, and the toy starts moving around the room, changing direction, bouncing around the room, making small squeaks when trapped.

What happened when I pressed the button and let it loose was a surprise.

Kinikini, the big male orange tabby, ran for cover. Kiko, the youngest and latest addition, watched from a safe distance.

The huntress of our four current cats turned out to be Ms. Kali, our elder calico!

The other three cats scattered when that electronic prey jumped and then chased them. When it came to hunting, Kali was the leader!!

In any case, in this photo, toy has gotten under that chair, and you can see that Kali is in the lead while the other cats can been seen backing her up from various distances!

Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised, since she spent the most time as a resident in the cat colony at the top of Aiea Heights.

In any case, click on the photo to see this week’s Feline Friday collection!
