Meet the Huskies

We’ve been running into these two beautiful dogs pretty regularly on our early morning walks on the beach.

When they spot us in the distance, they start dragging their person toward us.

I tried to tell them to “sit,” but they were just too excited.

All for a few quick pets and one small Milk Bone apiece. Their excitement seems out of proportion to the payoff, but I guess it’s all part of the whole package. Attention, a bite of food, and more attention!

Anyway, my phone caught most of this morning’s interaction!

It started raining a few minutes later, interrupting our walk.

Such gorgeous dogs! It takes a lot of work to keep Huskies healthy here. Knew a guy from the doggy park that had to ship his dog back to his family on the mainland because he couldn’t afford air conditioning. His poor dog was bigger than Leila and Sylvie in the video and suffered in our heat and humidity. He was OK in Winter and early Spring, but miserable any other time. At once point my friend buzz-cut his boy, which helped but sure made for an ugly dog when it started growing out.
