A Wednesday morning moment

Waialae Beach Park is located at the eastern end of Kahala Avenue, on the opposite site of Diamond Head from the visitor center of Waikiki.

It’s where we start our daily walks at dawn.

Every day is different. The light, colors, wind, tides, all interact to create unique moments out of familiar elements.

This photo was taken this morning (Wednesday, August 20). Just beyond the bridge, Waialae Stream empties into Maunalua Bay, which stretches from Koko Head to Black Point on Oahu’s southeastern coast. The sun was rising off to the left, out of the photo.

It’s twilight when we leave our house, usually just a few minutes before sunrise. What would we be afraid of?

Perhaps it helps that we now live in Kahala, quite a safe neighborhood. But we had the same morning walk routine when we lived in Kaaawa. The only thing we should have been worried about there was the traffic long the highway where we had to walk for at least part of the time.

I can cherish beautiful Kahala sunrise if only by mail
I never got tired of the view. Same sun but so different every day
Not to forget the moon- at times setting behind me and sunrise in front
