The view from there

It was a few minutes after takeoff from Honolulu’s main airport, and suddenly there was this fine view of the islands to the east of Oahu.

Here are the islands in this lineup.

Closest to the camera is Molokai, with its mountainous east end in clouds. Behind Molokai are the West Maui Mountains, and behind them is Haleakala. Next are the Big Island peaks in the distance, Mauna Kea and, to the right and only partially visible, Mauna Loa.

I took this with my iPhone 15 Pro, held in one hand and reaching across Meda to the window, as I attempted to aim in the right direction.

Do you suppose airline pilots ever get tired of this view?

It was a beautiful Friday morning

This photo was taken Friday morning on the edge of the Waialae Golf Course, which is all spruced up in preparation for the Sony Open golf tournament January 6-12. The morning light was just about perfect.

Worth sharing, in my view!

[Note: The photo posted on my first attempt was obviously not taken during today’s early morning walk, since it showed a black and white cat on our dining table watching as we ate. I’m not sure how that one snuck in, but it has been corrected!]

Sunrise at Waialae Beach Park

Two photos at sunrise taken about 7:50 a.m. Saturday morning at Waialae Beach Park.

The islands of Molokai, Maui, and Lanai were especially clear, although in the top photo Molokai is mostly blocked by the bridge across Waialae Stream.

Taken with a Canon EOS M6ii, Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens.
