It was a few minutes after takeoff from Honolulu’s main airport, and suddenly there was this fine view of the islands to the east of Oahu.
Here are the islands in this lineup.
Closest to the camera is Molokai, with its mountainous east end in clouds. Behind Molokai are the West Maui Mountains, and behind them is Haleakala. Next are the Big Island peaks in the distance, Mauna Kea and, to the right and only partially visible, Mauna Loa.
I took this with my iPhone 15 Pro, held in one hand and reaching across Meda to the window, as I attempted to aim in the right direction.
Do you suppose airline pilots ever get tired of this view?
