Happy Anniversary to us!!

August 15, 1969-August 15, 1999

30 Years!
Wow. What can you say?
And we're still having fun.

So how did the fun hogs celebrate
their big day??

We started out the night before with a big party put on by old friends, Wilma Sur and Dane Miller.

Disclosure: The big party wasn't actually for us, but was in honor of Dane's birthday (we won't mention which one). That's the birthday boy, wearing all the leis.

And that's Wilma next to Meda in the picture below.

Champagne flowed freely, even though their dog had tried to eat the stemware, and a good time was had by all.

Then after dinner we slipped back to our hideaway apartment at the edge of Waikiki, where we spent a quiet evening and slept without the nightly cat olympics.

Then we were up before dawn for our morning walk. That's Waikiki before dawn from our 13th floor window.

From our apartment we walked past the new convention center and out to Ala Moana Park, where we watched the sunrise over Diamond Head and the Waikiki skyline. Surfers were out in force on waves kicked up by the edge of Hurricane Dora, which is passing south of the islands as this is being written (we hope).

It's rough, but someone's got to do it.

Then it was breakfast back at the apartment with fresh coffee, fresh peaches and nectarines delivered by Harry and David, and served on a set of collectible Harker plates.

By mid-morning, we joined hundreds of others to pay our respects to Desmond Byrne, a friend and fellow questioner of authority, who recently passed away. It was a beautiful memorial but a very sad moment for us all.
