Noon. Coming together for staff photos to appear in the final edition. One set herded into a section of the newsroom, another on the front steps of the building.

Someone yells to the passing cars: "Anyone want to buy a newspaper?"

Webmaster Blaine Fergerstrom, the man behind the curtain at starbulletin.com

Left: It's a crush trying to all fit in a small corner of the newsroom for a group photo. That's your's truly in the (left) foreground in this self-portrait.

This collage on the back wall of the sports department captured the feeling. A knockout. The titanic. The Star-Bullein. We're all going down together, not voluntarily, a shared disaster that in a peculiar way carries its own sense of grandeur. We will all go down with the ship, putting ourselves into this paper until its last edition on October 30, 1999.

Update: Due to the preliminary injunction issued by the federal court in Honolulu, the S-B will continue publishing past the original deadline. Hopefully for a long time, but we'll take what we get.
