That's Mr. Leo's safe spot, on top of the kitchen cabinets. It gives him a vantage point to survey the makai side deck (that's towards the ocean), so he can watch for the roaming orange cat which has been making the rounds. Leo's also safe from Wally, who enjoys asserting herself but can't easily make the jump. The painting is a watercolor by Louis Macouillard, found on eBay a couple of years ago.
