It was shortly after 3 a.m. when I heard the sounds of cats playing out in the living room and went to check. In the darkness, I could make out Romeo and the kitten in some kind of interaction. Romeo played with a toy and then stepped aside to let the kitten play. At some point, I realized the object of their playing was a large rat and not a catnip toy. This seemed to settle the issue of whether rats and mice have been appearing by coincidence.This clearly seemed to be a teaching moment understood by all.
