It was an occasion we probably would have preferred not to be gathered for, but gather we did at Sandy Beach yesterday to remember, honor and celebrate David Matthews, a curmudgeonly citizen activist who played a key role in the long community effort to save the Sandy Beach coastline and who died Saturday.
