Memory of an urban garden

It was the early 1970's, and a friend from UH was lucky enough to rent an apartment in one of the homes within a unique japanese garden at the bottom of Pacific Heights Road. This beautiful spot was below street level and so unseen by commuters streaming past. Our friend, Tom Davis, was a graduate student in Sociology and a radio DJ who broadcast as "Lyle Langerhans", a play on "Isles of Langerhans", a medical reference to cells in the pancreas. Another radio personality of the time, Craig Quick, also lived on the property. It was an awesome setting since likely obliterated by development.
