| Whitman College Choral Contest--Spring 1966 Here's an unexpected treasure from my history file--It shows the crew from Delta Tau Delta fraternity that won the mens' top prize in the Whitman College annual choral contest back in 1966, with Hawaii students Dale Bonar (now executive director of the Maui Coastal Land Trust), Robert Ikua Crowell (an exectuive v.p. at Bank of Hawaii), and yours truly, intrepid reporter and blogger Ian Lind...can you spot me in this action photo? Next to me, on the far right in the back row, is Bruce Judd, now a prominent historic preservation architect based in San Francisco. According to the 1966 college yearbook: ""the 40th annual Choral Contest was held in Lacey Auditorium....Delta Tau Delta captured the Howard E PRatt cup. Tom Church directred them in "Old King Cole" and "Brothers, Sing On." I don't recall who took these photos, which did not appear in the college yearbook. Hey, fellow Whitties--I would welcome additional "where are they now?" updates on any of the other Delts singers or others shown in these photos. Send your emails to ian(at)ilind.net. |
