Canon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 "kit" lens
Notes and sample photos by Ian Lind, Kaaawa, Hawaii July 31, 2006 What can you expect from the inexpensive 18-55mm lens that comes packaged with Canon's Digital Rebels? You wouldn't call it an outstanding performer, but first time buyers don't have to be afraid of using it. Pros and photo snobs might disagree, but I sometimes turn to the kit lens instead of the more expensive lenses in my camera bag because it is very light and compact, a relief from the weight of an optically superior lens. With a little help from Photoshop or other software, it can produce perfectly presentable photographs. Here are some samples taken during morning walks two days this past week. |
