Antique Alley

High noon. Antique Alley on Kapiolani Boulevard. By coincidence, the Newspaper Guild offices are upstairs in the same building. A couple of nightclubs linked in earlier days to the wife of a District Court judge, the target of one of my earlier investigations, are across the alley. Radio Shack is a couple of floors up, and the China House restaurant is just up the ramp.

It's always pleasant to stop in and see our friends Pake Zane and Julie Lauster, who somehow maintain a semblance of order in the eclectic array of treasures.

Meda arrived a few minutes after I did, and she was bearing gifts. It had been a good run so far.

She claims that she couldn't walk past this Treasure Craft cookie jar, although I've already got one just like it, a gift from neighbors a couple of years ago. Meda's excuse--this one was just too cheap, salvaged for under $5 at the Holy Nativity thrift shop. What can I say?

[Meda]: he can say that it was JUST what he wanted for his anniversary.
