Here are a few more photos found among my dad’s stuff.
The first is of the Waikiki Surf Club’s team in the 1952 Molokai-Oahu canoe race, which I think was the first year the race was held.
According to notes on the back of the photo, Wally Froiseth was steersman. George Downing and Dutchy Kino were in the water working on the ama, #5 position was Roy Folk, and Moki Perkins was in the #1 position.
The second photo shows the winning team, from Molokai, heading towards the finish in that same 1952 race.
Finally, there’s this photo of women of the Waikiki Surf Club, year unknown, and there are no notes on the identities of those shown. If you can fill in the blanks, please let me know!

You might try checking with waikikisurfclub.org to see if they can ID some of the people in those photos.
wow. fabulous pics!
These are incredible photos, a great find for sure. They really make me appreciate the skill of photography back in the days long before everything went digital.
The first two photos are featured in the excellent “Molokai-Oahu Through the Years” book by Peter Caldwell.
