Harry and Lizzie star on this Feline Friday

Okay, it’s 5:33 a.m. on a Feline Friday, a very appropriate label since I’ve already spent most of the past hour stumbling around in the dark, through our yard, down the hill to the road that comes up past the Kaaawa fire station, all in search of the kitten whose occasional piercing cry cut through the pre-dawn quiet. I never found it, although I did hear it several times. I think perhaps a mother cat was in the process of moving kittens, since my sense was that the source of the cry had changed locations. Of course, it could have just been my poor hearing, who knows. After the morning silence returned, I finally gave up my vigil and clawed my way through the bushes and up the small incline, back up to our house, where the rest of the cats had already finished Round One of breakfast, and now busily try to stick their snouts into their siblings dishes looking for the few leftover kibbles. Ms. Kili and Mr. Silverman went roaring in when I opened the door to our rooms downstairs, so they’re hanging out in Silverman’s “spa”.

Not quite a typical cat morning, but quite familiar nonetheless.

[text]Now, for this Feline Friday, a bit of nostalgia. I ran across this little video while searching for something else. Doesn’t it always happen that way?

Anyway, this dates back to September 2000, when we found and rescued the kittens we named Harriet and Lizzie, and two siblings who were adopted by our neighbors. Harriet, also known as Ms. Harry, is the only one surviving today. I’m sure that you’ll recognize her!

And click here for another photo taken two weeks after their arrival at our house.
