I took this picture last evening while we were out on the deck enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine. Annie was enjoying the company, while Romeo was lurking around the edges threatening to bully her again. He’s been bad about that for the past couple of days. We’re not sure if he is just on a kitty power trip, or if it’s because her coloring resembles a stray that sometimes passes through the yard. Poor Annie.

Annie was adopted back in the fall of 2004, if I recall correctly. She was a healthy kitten that must have wandered from home and got to the beach along Kamehameha Highway. Our theory is that she wandered into a drainage pipe that goes under the highway to the beach. As we passed by on our daily walk, she was trying to scramble up the beach to the road. I snatched her up and we turned around and took her home. The rest is history.

I’m going to go ahead and post this now, since the thunder is getting louder and the rain starting to get harder. Kaaawa still seems to be just out of the direct path of this thunder storm, but it seems to be getting closer.
