We were on the return leg of our early morning walk yesterday, enjoying the back roads of Kaaawa, when we noticed an unusual trail of ants on the road. It looked like a whole ant nest was in the process of moving from one side of the road to the other, all in an amazingly organized line. I at least had the sense to get a brief video. Not the world’s best video, but pretty weird nonetheless.

If the ants are within 200 yards of your house, you should be concerned. Last summer there was an outbreak of ants around Oahu (or was it two summers ago?) . Home Depot was selling the gallon bug spray in a big display at the front of the store that summer.
The ants invaded our condo and it took over a month to get rid of them. Once in the house, they found a nesting area inside the walls and ventured out to raid any food or water they could find. They fustrated my wife to no end. In addition to the spray, we put out the liquid ant traps sold at Don Quijote. It was quite a battle to finally get rid of the colony.
