I recently found a small scrapbook tucked safely away in a cabinet in my mother’s bedroom. It contains a number of photographs, most without labels, and most from her high school years. It ends in 1931, the year she graduated from the Kamehameha School for Girls and then entered the University of Hawaii.
This particular batch of photos features young women decked out with piles of flower lei, and I’m guessing it was graduation time.
Given a little time, I can probably identify some of them by matching against the few other pictures for which my mother left notes identifying friends, but that will have to wait for some other slow period.
