This site dates back to the beginning of 2000 (and several months earlier, if you go back before the ilind.net domain was registered). At that time, I had to hand code each days entry and manually maintain the chronology. I adopted the WordPress platform in mid-2007. The software then took over much of the technical side of creating and then keeping track of content.

Collections of photographs posted before that magic 2007 date remain relatively obscure because they are a bit more difficult to track down.

So I surprised myself yesterday by running across a different set of pictures taken during the same 1960 trip to Maui featured here this past week.

There are a few more photos of the old single lane road between Kihei and Makena, Keawakapu Beach, and even a couple of photos taken at Kapalua and Kaanapali over on the west side.

So I’m resurrecting that earlier photo gallery and giving it an encore appearance here. So there’s a version of these same photos floating back there in pre-WordPress cyberspace, but this one will be easier to find in the future.

I’ve also added a new category, “Vintage Hawaii,” and I’ll be going back to add this tag to earlier photos from prior eras. It’s a process that will take me a while, but have patience.
