Feline Friday, Part 2: Our cats at home

Ms. Wally Ms. Wally welcomes you to Part Two of today’s Feline Friday.

Yup, this is the “regular” bunch of Friday Felines, with Ms. Wally out front.

Wally’s currently our most medically fragile cat, with an ongoing issue of depressed appetite that has resisted any clear diagnosis. The best we’ve been able to come up with after several rounds of testing over the past year or so has been a drug that boosts her appetite for several days. So I have to cut up a pill into quarters, and give her one of the pieces every three or four days, as needed. It really works, although she hates the pilling part.

As long as I can keep her eating, she seems to perk up.

So this is our routine for the time being.

Still trying to get Duke’s glucose levels down into the okay zone. His tests were bouncing all around, from very low to quite high. So I replaced both the bottle of insulin and the batch of test strips. Now at least the results are more consistent, and I’m working to get the proper dosage again, which takes a gradual adjustment over several weeks to find just the right amount he seems to need. Meantime, though, he seems to be doing okay.

The rest of the cats are doing relatively okay.

See for yourself!
