Well, I stayed up last night to watch the lunar eclipse, which played out directly overhead with no clouds to interrupt the show! It was a slow-motion spectacle, for sure, playing out over several hours. But I did manage to get the week’s cat photos together in time to post right on schedule.
Right now, the cats are each working on their individual servings of a vaguely seafood-flavored canned cat food. Kini gobbles his portion down in big bites. Kali nibbles slowly at hers. And Romeo, with repeated encouragement, will slowly work through about half of his dish, but will usually finish the rest when offered it again a little later in the morning. Slow and not quite steady, but he usually manages to finish it off.
And the order of Beech-Nut beef baby food arrived yesterday afternoon, just four days after I ordered it online from a company I’ve never heard of, Vitacost. The price, including tax and delivery, was a bit more than we have to pay at Safeway, but meat baby food has been largely unavailable locally at the four stores where we regularly shop, and also out of stock at Amazon. Beech-Nut is Romeo’s favorite, and he’ll eat a jar of it whenever it’s offered. It’s the secret for getting sick cats to eat, and almost always works.
Now I have to serve up some “light” kibbles for Kini and Kali. They get less than what the label calls for, but I still haven’t found the right amount to keep their weight down. Both prefer the dry food over canned food. I wish they could explain why. And it’s even more puzzling because both of them have lost a good number of teeth, so you might expect they would have a hard time with dry food. But no, if given a choice, they’ll usually go for the dry.
In any case, here’s your post-eclipse peek behind the scenes of our feline-centric household.
