A morning rainbow

It was quite cloudy before dawn today, and there was rain drifting out on the horizon.

But the rain didn’t arrive until soon after we turned around at the far end of the beach and had started walking toward home.

Within a couple of minutes, a faint rainbow formed ahead.

And then it turned into this extremely brilliant example of what our mix of rain and sun produces!

Pastime Favorites: Kaaawa Halloween 2015 & a few back road geese

One of the things I’m doing to pass the time while sheltering in place is backing up digital photo files from various periods. Of course, like a cook that has to sample tastes on the way to a finished product, I have to browse through photos before finishing the backup and moving on. It’s an enjoyable process, peeking into points in the past and finding little surprises that are instantly familiar.

I thought I would start to share a few of these little finds. I’ll try to drop one or two here as I find them.

Here are two. The first was taken in Kaaawa on Halloween in October 2015 at the home of friends just down the block from where we used to live.

The next one dates back to 2006. We were walking back from the beach in Kaaawa early one morning, and there were several geese on the road out in front of the Nozawa’s place at Kaneohe end of Kekio Road.
