Meet the Huskies

We’ve been running into these two beautiful dogs pretty regularly on our early morning walks on the beach.

When they spot us in the distance, they start dragging their person toward us.

I tried to tell them to “sit,” but they were just too excited.

All for a few quick pets and one small Milk Bone apiece. Their excitement seems out of proportion to the payoff, but I guess it’s all part of the whole package. Attention, a bite of food, and more attention!

Anyway, my phone caught most of this morning’s interaction!

It started raining a few minutes later, interrupting our walk.

Romeo maintains his status as a YouTube star

I’m not really a video person, but I do post small videos on YouTube because that makes them easy to share here on my blog.

Well, YouTube just since me a surprising “Year in Review” message.

The most viewed of my many videos this year was Romeo’s Wake-Up Call.

The video dates back to June 2010, when Romeo was our 18-pound gray tabby who had adopted us five years earlier after taking refuge under our house during a loud New Year’s Eve with the usual evening of bombs and window-rattling explosions.

To date, it has gotten 4,618,130 views, as reported by YouTube.

Wake-up Call

Romeo departed this life on April 29, 2022 at something around 20 years of age, long enough to overlap with our next three rescues, Kali, Kinikini, and Bessie. The following day, I posted some images.

Cat meets Cam

We’re still debating a name for Rescue Cat #4, a six-month old female that we brought home Thursday morning. She’s not really still a kitten, but still verry kitteny (is that a word?). She had been living in a territory that included the Kahala Beach Condominium and parts of the Kahala Hotel, from the condo side over to the Plumeria restaurant. The problem is that a federally-protected Fairy Tern was found dead at the condo, reportedly the result of a cat attack, leading the condo management to begin trapping and removing free-roaming cats, and there were quite a few.

This little lady stood out for her friendliness and lack of fear of people. She is now safely stashed in our small spare bedroom, adjusting to life indoors before being introduced to our three other cats.

I installed an infrared cat cam in the room to track her movements, and caught this little scene early Saturday morning shortly after midnight. For those interested, it is a Wyze Pan Cam v3. It pans across the room and records when it senses motion.
